A reported failure to yield at a green light resulted in one woman’s car flipping Tuesday morning.

According to McMinnville Police Officer Maggie Fann, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tina Simmons, 55, was traveling east on Bobby Ray Memorial Parkway in a maroon Dodge Caravan when she approached the traffic light at the intersection of Mullican Street. Roger Eckard, 54, was traveling west on Bobby Ray Memorial Parkway in a sliver Chevy Silverado.

Eckard was attempting to travel straight through the traffic light while Simmons was attempting to turn left onto Mullican Street. According to Fann, both drivers had the green light, but Simmons did not have the green turn arrow and was supposed to yield to oncoming traffic. Simmons reportedly failed to yield and pulled in front of Eckard.

Eckard struck her vehicle causing it to flip on its top. Both drivers were transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park to be treated for their injuries. Simmons also received a citation for careless driving.
