Strong storms sweep state

Seth Wright photo At 10 a.m. Thursday morning the Barren Fork River began crossing Old Morrison Road near Pepper Branch Park. By Thursday afternoon, the park was completely under water and ocean-like waves were crashing below the dam.
Tornadic winds, thunderstorms, hail and torrential flooding punished Warren County and the mid-state area Wednesday night leaving hundreds without power and countless trees down. Several rounds of significant severe weather impacted the whole state in steady waves throughout the evening into Thursday morning, leaving many out of power as well as sleep.
