Bluegrass Downtown will be held on Main Street in historic downtown McMinnville this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will offer music, market and more.
Main Street McMinnville is partnering with Bluegrass Underground to offer Bluegrass Downtown, an event filled with music, market and more.
“Bluegrass Downtown was created to take advantage of the Bluegrass Underground attendees and give them and other tourists something extra to do while they are here in McMinnville,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King.
Local participation is encouraged.
“We also want to attract our local citizens as well,” said King. “We are encouraging anyone who would like to participate in Bluegrass Downtown to bring their instruments and come downtown to share their talents. It can be any type of music. We emphasize bluegrass mainly to connect with Bluegrass Underground, but we want any and all types of music.”
Along with music, visitors will be greeted with a downtown sidewalk sale. All businesses, including realtors, attorneys and accounting offices, are being encouraged to offer high-quality items in the sidewalk sale.
Bluegrass Downtown is the idea of McMinnville Downtown Business Group, a subcommittee of Main Street McMinnville. The group consists of downtown merchants, businesses, churches and property owners with a goal of bringing attention to downtown.
Additions to future Bluegrass Downtown could include a car show, square dancing and possibly a “Duck Dynasty” look-a-like contest.
For Saturday’s Bluegrass Downtown, musicians are encouraged to find a place on Main Street and begin playing or contact King for help in determining a spot. She can be reached at 506-5335.
