TCAP testing begins this week and high school teacher Melissa Paz wants students and parents to realize the importance of the test.Paz said the TCAP tests for seventh-graders are especially crucial because they determine the course level a student can take moving forward. She said if a student expects to take honors-level courses in math, science and English, they must have a high enough TCAP score to be placed in those classes.“In essence, your student’s seventh-grade year is the beginning point in determining their educational placement in high school and post-secondary instruction,” said Paz. “A lot of parents and students don’t know how much is riding on this test.
