A convicted rapist free on parole has confessed to murdering a local woman and dumping her body in a quarry in neighboring Coffee County. The suspect, Jimmy Byron Jones, 51, of Morrison is being held at Coffee County Jail on a $2 million bond charged with the homicide of Connie Lou Godsey Brown, 58, of Warren County.Brown’s body was found March 9 by a four-wheeler rider. Her partially burned remains were in a field near an old quarry in Summitville just across the Warren County line.An autopsy revealed the victim had been shot in the chest. Fingerprints were used to provide a positive identification after it was learned she had been reported missing a few days prior to the body being found.Investigators believe Brown was likely killed at another location and her body moved to quarry after her death.
