A wreck involving a McMinnville Police detective occurred Friday afternoon around 2 p.m. with over a dozen law enforcement officers answering the call. According to state trooper Rodney Whiles, Sparta resident Tina Walker, 61 was traveling eastbound driving a 2010 Dodge Journey when she failed to yield the right of way when attempting to turn left on Todd Road. This action caused detective Marty Cantrell, driving an unmarked Ford Explorer, to swerve right to avoid the collision.

Besides receiving the grill, Watson also obtained a discounted subscription to the paper. “I’ve never won anything before so getting this grill is much better than getting the banana split,” said Watson, who has been a subscriber to the Standard for over seven years.
