Woman rescued after cave accident

A spelunker was rescued from the depths of a cave in rural Van Buren County on Saturday evening after falling into the abyss while exploring the cavern with friends.The woman, identified as a 41-year-old from Alabama, was pulled from the cave just before midnight Saturday after rescue crews worked for several hours to access the trapped cave enthusiast. She was taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment of injuries she sustained in the fall which rescuers estimate was a 40-foot vertical plunge.The accident happened in Foxhole Cave in Van Buren County. The cavern is a favorite destination for many spelunkers.
