A woman was injured Monday afternoon when her car rolled over on Highway 70 Bypass in front of McMinnville Funeral Home.
The woman, Tina Shepherd, 49, was taken to River Park Hospital for treatment for injuries she sustained when her vehicle reportedly rolled over several times after being clipped by another vehicle as they were traveling in the inbound lanes of the bypass.
According to McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell, the wreck was caused when Homer James, 78, pulled from his lane.
“His pickup tapped the very rear driver’s side of the Shepherd vehicle when he changed lanes,” Cantrell explained of the 4:30 p.m. crash. “That contact was enough to cause her vehicle to go into a spin and when that happened, her momentum caused her car to roll over.”
James was also taken to River Park Hospital. However, his visit was not for injuries but was instead for an evaluation as he was unable to answer basic questions after the wreck.
The wreck caused a back-up of traffic Monday since it happened at rush hour on a heavily traveled highway and the Shepherd vehicle came to rest on its top in the middle of the eastbound lanes.
