Woman describes stabbing rampage

A witness who saw her boyfriend being stabbed by a deranged man testified she was terrified when he turned and began coming at her with the bloody knife.
“He reminded me of the movie ‘Jaws’ when the shark gets blood,” testified Tosha Ramos who saw suspect Hoyt Mitchell Hobbs stab her boyfriend, Brian Dedmon, several times with a knife. “He had a blank, creepy face.”
Dedmon, 24, suffered stab wounds to his chest, hand, back and stomach but survived. Hobbs, 57, who lived at the same residence as Dedmon, Ramos and Ramos’ father, remains held under bond charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Ramos testified Hobbs had been acting strange all week and had closed himself inside his room without coming out for days. He had also made comments about killing someone with a knife prior to going into seclusion.
Ramos said she had a strange feeling when she heard her father leave that morning, noticing her boyfriend had not come into her room after a night in the proverbial doghouse.
“I was thinking he should be in my room kissing my butt since I made him sleep on the couch,” said Ramos, noting they had a squabble.
When she walked into the living room, Ramos said she stepped into a bloody scene where Hobbs was repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend.
“I could hear Bryan screaming, ‘Stop you’ve stabbed me enough’ and he was trying to get out the door, but couldn’t get the dead bolt open,” Ramos recalled, noting Hobbs kept hacking her boyfriend with the knife.
Ramos said she was able to turn Hobbs’ attention to her, at which time she yelled at her boyfriend to run. That is when she said Hobbs came at her.
“I was terrified,” she said, pointing out she was able to run outside and find her boyfriend by following a trail of blood.
It was later learned Hobbs thought Dedmon had stolen his medication.
As a result of the evidence, Judge Larry Ross refused to lower the $150,000 bond on Hobbs, calling him a threat to the community.
“Nobody in this courtroom thinks he should be loose right now,” Ross said. “If I was charged with attempted murder I’d be hitting the road.”
