Window contest sets judging date for July 1

Downtown businesses are encouraged to show their red, white and blue pride and participate in a window decorating contest.All windows must be decorated and ready for judging on Thursday, June 30 with judging taking place Friday, July 1, according to contest organizer Main Street McMinnville.“We’d like for every business in town to decorate, but the contest will only be open to downtown businesses,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King. “Balloons, ribbons, anything that gives patriotic flavor is what we’re after.”Businesses on the following streets are eligible for the decorating contest – Main, Morford, Spring, Chancery, High, and Colville.Participants are asked to leave their patriotic displays in place until at least July 6. Winners will be announced at the downtown Independence Day celebration Monday, July 4.The first-place prize is a commemorative brick valued at $110 that will be placed around the fountain.
