A dedication ceremony to name the McMinnville Water Treatment facility in honor of Carl W. Davis has been set for April 27. Officials passed a resolution Tuesday night.
Until his untimely death on Sept. 5, 2010, Davis had worked for the city of McMinnville for 38 years in the McMinnville Water and Sewer Department.
Davis was hired by the city in September 1972 as a supervisor at the Sewer Plant. For the last 25 years of his time with the city, he was the Water and Wastewater Department director. Under his direction, over $12 million in capital improvements were made.
The resolution states:
“Whereas the Board of Mayor and Alderman of the city of McMinnville, Tenn., desires that Carl W. Davis be honored by naming the McMinnville Water Treatment Facilities located at 200 Bell Street be named the City of McMinnville Carl W. Davis Water Treatment Complex.”
The resolution was passed unanimously by Mayor Jimmy Haley, Vice Mayor Ben Newman and Aldermen Mike Neal, Ken Smith, Jimmy Bonner, Rick Barnes and Billy Wood.
Refreshments will be provided by the city. The ceremony time has yet to be determined.
