State Rep. Judd Matheny recently presented a $4,467 check from the Tennessee State Library and Archives to County Executive John Pelham. The funds were designated for the local archives, which is overseen by Warren County archivist Jean Hobbs. The funds came as a result of a grant written by Hobbs and will be used to continue the work begun last year to move important county records and documents from the basement of the courthouse to the new archives set up at the County Administration Building.Hobbs, who is very concerned with preserving these documents, says she is very appreciative of the funding.“I love it,” she said. “This will keep us in materials and supplies so we can keep cleaning these books for another six months to a year.”Hobbs says there has been a lot of progress, but there is still much to be done.“Everything has not been moved out of the basement yet,” Hobbs said.
