Warning system upgrade will cost more than first estimated

The cost of upgrading the city’s storm warning system will be more than $5,000.McMinnville officials approved the upgrade in a Safety Committee meeting at the end of August with a cost estimate given verbally by Communications Evolutions owner Richard Myers the work would be less than $5,000. He presented the city with a written quote this month that priced the work at $5,126.The cost was for an encoder, its software, and installation to improve the city’s system in hopes of preventing a second failure. On July 11, the 911 center activated the system at 3:20 p.m. during a thunderstorm warning.
