McMinnville resident and Coffee County native Walter Marion May, 68, died Jan. 14 at Manchester Medical Center after an extended illness.A factory worker with Carrier and a member of the Baptist Church, he served his country in the U.S. Army and was the son of the late Raymond Roper and Beatrice May Abney, and was also preceded in death by wife, Nancy Davis May, and brother-in-law, Johnny “Gene” Rogers.He is survived by children, Sandy May Banda of Illinois, and Matthew May of Texas; three grandchildren, sisters, Betty Rogers and Martha (Joe) Hennessee, both of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Bill Everesole officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
