Vice mayor says fire allegations false

Wild speculation and unfounded accusations regarding the city’s involvement in the downtown fire and the removal of two buildings has at least one McMinnville official smoldering.“Within hours of City Cafe burning, I began to hear rumors and outright accusations being spread in the community,” said Vice Mayor Everett Brock. “None of it has any truth to it.”Brock says the wildest and most absurd theory is the fire was intentionally set in an effort to make room for building McMinnville Police Department downtown. City Cafe was owned by Junior Medley, who is also a city alderman.“It’s absurd for anyone to think Junior would even do such a thing,” Brock said.
