Two people have been indicted by a special session of the DeKalb County grand jury in connection with the death of a 22-month-old child.According to Capt. Steven Leffew of Smithville Police Department, the unfortunate saga began early Sunday morning.“On May 17 at approximately 3:11 a.m., Smithville Police Sgt. Travis Bryant and officer Joey Myers were dispatched to DeKalb Hospital emergency room in reference to a possible child abuse resulting in the death of a 2-year-old child. Investigating officers deemed the death to be of a suspicious nature. "Capt. Leffew, Lt. Matt Holmes and detective Brandon Donnell were notified.
