Two men will serve jail time for their role in a 4-on-1 beatdown that sent their victim to the hospital.
Keith Polson was given 30 days in jail, while Justin Lamar Reed was given 10 days for their parts in the attack of the man who was accosted as he walked down the road. The two other suspects are still waiting for their day in court, one of them remaining unidentified.
According to the victim, he had been living with Reed at Vinewood Apartments but was told to leave because Reed did not want him to live there anymore. The victim said he left and was walking down the street when four people, including the two defendants who entered plea bargains, attacked him. Specifically, he said they hit him with their fists and kicked him and Reed took his cellphone so he could not call police.
The victim said he was able to get away from his attackers and run to Northside Video where he took refuge and called 911. He was taken to River Park Hospital by ambulance and was told he had suffered bruised ribs and a concussion.
In addition to their jail time, Polson and Reed will be on probation for a year and have to perform 16 hours public service work. They were also warned not to be around the victim.
