One teen was killed and four other people were injured when the SUV in which they were riding slammed head-on into a tree off Vervilla Road. The fatally injured victim, Ashlyn Barnes, 17, a junior at Warren County High School, died at the scene. The driver, Ramiro “Rere” Ibarra, 19, along with fellow passengers, Geoffrey Washom, 20, Amber Bates, 17, a junior at WCHS; and Holden Nunley, 19, a senior at WCHS, were all airlifted from the scene. They were transported from the scene by LifeForce, LifeFlight and AirEvac helicopters, all of which made their landings in a pasture near the wreck.According to the preliminary Highway Patrol report submitted by trooper Rodney Whiles, the wreck happened around 8:46 p.m. on a straight stretch of Vervilla Road located about a half mile west of Warren County High School in front of Stone Creek Crossing subdivision just inside McMinnville city limits.Evidence suggests Ibarra was traveling westbound, away from town, in his 1988 Chevy Blazer when he traveled off the left side of the two-lane road and entered a field. Trooper Whiles said the truck tore down a barbed wire fence as it entered the field from Vervilla Road and continued traveling westbound through the field as it hit a downward slope heading toward a creek.
