Teen driver at fault in two-vehicle crash

Two teens were injured and transported to River Park Hospital following a wreck at the intersection of Vervilla Road and Deerfield Lane at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.Lexie Wood, 16, was the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado which was exiting Deerfield Estates subdivision.According to Tennessee Highway Patrolman Rodney Whiles, a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Kiyomi Kirby, 80, of Morrison, was westbound on Vervilla Road when Wood failed to yield the right of way and struck Kirby in the passenger-side door.The door panel of the gray Taurus was imbedded in the front of Wood’s blue Silverado following the wreck.Wood and her female teenage passenger suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries when one or both girls hit the rearview mirror. The impact with the mirror shattered the front windshield of the truck.
