Long before the first car drove down McMinnville’s Main Street in 1909, First National Bank was a fixture in Warren County. The bank, first organized in 1874, is preparing to recognize its 140th anniversary on Thursday with refreshments at all its branches and a ceremony at the main branch beginning at 11 a.m.The bank rose from humble beginnings to survive the Great Depression in the late 1920s and early '30s, and passed a historic milestone in 2012 when the bank had over $500 million in total assets."We're one of the few banks that did not stop paying a dividend during the Great Depression," said First National Bank president Pieter J. van Vuuren. "The health of our bank remains today. We still have a strong demand for our stock and our earnings have been their highest in 10 years."After organizing in 1874 as The National Bank of McMinnville, there was a name change to First National Bank in 1905.
