NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Nashville is set to get a new federal courthouse after funding passed a final hurdle in Washington.

According to the office of U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure approved the funding on Wednesday. That was the final approval needed for the $181.5 million project to move forward.

The Nashville Democrat said in a news release the city has needed a new courthouse for more than 20 years for safety reasons.
