NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A mix of winter weather is moving into Tennessee and roads could become slippery, especially in western counties.
A winter weather advisory posted by the National Weather Service cautions about collecting snow and sleet possible across West Tennessee Monday afternoon and evening. Forecasters said accumulations of 1-2 inches were likely north of Interstate 40 and up to a half-inch south of I-40. The advisory was in effect from 3 p.m.- 9 p.m., CST.
A winter storm warning posted for parts of Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel also takes in Lake County in extreme northwestern Tennessee.
A special weather statement from the weather service said a mix of rain and snow was expected in Middle Tennessee and southeastern locations.
Temperatures aloft will warm overnight, turning precipitation to cold rain Tuesday morning.
