Smokin' in McMinnville has national flavor

One of the most highly recognized grillers in the nation emerged as the grand champion Saturday in the annual Smokin’ in McMinnville cook-off at McMinnville Civic Center.With 40 teams fighting for the top prize, Warren County Pork Choppers from Bowling Green, Ky., emerged as grand champion. Historic BBQ from Lebanon, Ohio, grabbed second place as reserve grand champion. Smokin’ in McMinnville is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, which is why it attracts such quality teams.“One of the Kansas City Barbeque Society judges told me nine of the top 10 teams in the world were here,” said McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton, one of the event organizers.
