Multiple indictments have been handed down against a man accused of molesting a child over a decade ago.The suspect, John David Smartt Jr., 46, has been served with a 12-count indictment charging six counts of child rape, three counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and three counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Since the top charge of child rape carries 15 to 25 years in prison, convictions would constitute a life sentence for Smartt.Smartt has been out on bond since first being arrested last summer on two child rape counts for allegedly molesting a girl under the age of 13. The additional 10 counts were added recently when his case went to the grand jury.The incidents involving the girl date back as far as 1999 and continue to 2007.
Smartt faces six counts of child rape
