When it first got its start in 1981, the Southern Standard’s program called Share A Christmas Dinner helped a handful of families.Now into its third decade of service, the Share program feeds well over 600 families a holiday meal. Last year, 650 families were helped with a holiday food box that contains all the fixings for a holiday feast. Chicken, milk, eggs, bread and cake mix are among the many items included in the food boxes.Every year vehicles line up bumper to bumper at the Civic Center parking lot when it’s time for distribution.
