Schools prepare for early release next Thursday

Students will get an early break from school next Thursday as the first early release Thursday begins for the Warren County School System.
Warren County Schools will let out at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, to allow teachers to have development time during which they will talk about curriculum and compare notes on instructional practices and ideas. Teachers will not get the benefit of a shorter day as they are scheduled to meet from 1 to 3 p.m. that day.
The early dismissal means buses will run at 1 p.m. One exception to the early dismissal will be for extended daycare. It will start at 3 p.m., as normal, and remain on its regular schedule.
The Oct. 2 early release will be the first of several scheduled for the first Thursday of the month. Additional early release days will be Dec. 4, Feb. 5, and March 5, during which the same schedule will be followed.
Last year, schools started late during the developmental days. Early dismissal is merely a variation to last year’s program to see which will be smoother for students and parents.
Anyone having questions about early dismissal Thursdays may contact their child’s school.
