School's auto call system put on hold

Warren County Schools will have their first early release day this Thursday as classes will be dismissed at 1 p.m. so teachers can have development time. However, if parents are waiting for official notification through an automated phone call, that call won’t come as the school system’s phone notification system has found itself in a quandary. The school system’s calls have been classified in the same category as telemarketers.“The law that covers telemarketers and the Do Not Call List can also be applied to schools we have found out,” said Director of Schools Bobby Cox, noting that has left the school system’s automated phone system grounded for the time being. “In the past, we would have informed parents by phone about the early release day, but for the time being, we will rely on newspaper and radio to get the word out.”State law restricts telemarketers from making unsolicited calls.
