Ready to Relay in 2014? American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Warren County will hold a kickoff rally Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at Caney Fork Electric.
Volunteers and participants are encouraged to attend.
“This also will be the first opportunity to register a team and select a site for the event to be held on June 6 at Nunley Stadium,” said Relay for Life representative Marlene Delong.
The kickoff rally will mark the beginning of fundraising efforts for the 12th annual event. Last year’s effort, called “Dream Big, Hope Big, Relay Big,” was held at Nunley Stadium and attracted 40 teams which raised over $125,000.
Relay For Life brings together people all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s vision of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Relay For Life began in 1985 with one man who walked and ran around a track for 24 hours and raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society. Each year, Relay For Life takes place in 5,000 communities in the United States and 20 other countries to raise funds to fight cancer.
