McMinnville Police Department urges partakers of next weekend’s Back to the Strip event to be mindful of their own safety and that of their fellow participants. “Last year's event was successful largely because the event-goers did an excellent job of policing themselves and therefore, the police department’s role was generally that of observers,” said McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton.The department wants to continue to be observers, while ensuring the law is upheld and no one gets hurt.“The department supports the event and certainly the cause,” said Denton. “However, one careless mishap can negatively impact the night and hamper future sponsor’s willingness to present the event, but more importantly it could get someone hurt.
