The state has accepted the city’s revised $2 million funding request for Park Theatre restoration. No date has been set for the work to begin.“We have received word from the state that our funding request has been approved,” said Mayor Jimmy Haley at the last city meeting.This was the city’s second attempt to obtain state approval. The first request was rejected in November because it included the city’s plan to hand the reins of the facility over to the Park Theatre Group once complete, an item that was removed when the request was resubmitted.Rejecting, then approving, the city’s request to borrow $2 million for Park Theatre renovation was the Tennessee Municipal Bond Fund.
