A man who held two people hostage inside a Holly Pointe apartment has been sentenced to 11 years in prison. The man, Joshua Neal, 25, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and initiating the process to manufacture meth. Neal was sentenced to a straight 11 years in the state penitentiary as part of his plea bargain.Neal held his girlfriend and another man against their will in early 2010, inflicting knife wounds on himself even as police negotiators were on the phone trying to convince him to let the hostages go and come out peacefully. He would later claim he did not forcefully hold them but instead suggested they were afraid to leave because he was acting out of control.Law enforcement officers with McMinnville Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Department set up outside the apartment and urged Neal to surrender.
