A young mother has been indicted for the drowning death of her daughter earlier this year.
Samantha Brymer-Armstrong, 22, has been indicted by the Van Buren County grand jury for one count of child abuse and one count of child neglect. Both charges are felonies.
Her 3-year-old daughter, Kayleigh, was found in a swimming pool March 7 at their home on Old State Highway in Spencer.
CPR was performed and Kayleigh was transported to White County Hospital where hospital staff were able to regain a pulse and labored breathing. She was then transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga where she died the next day.
Brymer-Armstrong told investigators she left Kayleigh unattended for more than an hour while she played video games with headphones on in a back bedroom.
Brymer-Armstrong was arrested by the TBI earlier this week. She was booked into the Van Buren County Jail on $25,000 bond.
The TBI conducted the investigation. District Attorney Lisa Zavogiannis will be prosecuting the case.
Brymer-Armstrong is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 28.
