Morrison School should be ready by mid-summer, plenty of time to be used opening day of the coming school year. The announcement was made during the most recent School Board meeting where it was revealed the school is 70 percent done and is completely under roof.“We are putting the furniture out of bid,” said school system maintenance director Donnie Caldwell, estimating furniture like desks, chairs and other things for the new school will cost about $160,000. Caldwell said the building is supposed to be done by mid-July as contractors have asked for a few weather days, slightly pushing back the estimated June completion date. The announcement comes after Dibrell School went substantially over its target completion date, delaying the use of its new section for nearly half of this school year. It is expected the school system will go after damages against the contractor on the Dibrell project. In addition to the Morrison building, it was revealed the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be handling paving on the road near the school.
