A new band in the Main Street Live summer concert series lineup will take the stage this Friday night. Midnight Flyer, a McMinnville-based band, will bring country to downtown.
“We’re excited about it,” said Kevin Youngblood, Midnight Flyer band member on guitar and vocals. “We’ve been trying for three years to be included in Main Street Live. We finally made it.”
Midnight Flyer is named after the band’s favorite Eagle’s tune, and is made up of the good ol’ boys from down the street, says Youngblood.
“That’s how we think of ourselves, a group of good ol’ boys that would rather perform at events such as this,” he said. “You won’t find us in bars or clubs. We are the hometown guys that everyone wants to hang out with.”
Rounding out the other band members are: Trent Young on bass and vocals, Brad Hennessee on fiddle, guitar and vocals, Tim Colwell on lead guitar, Tracy Denton on steel guitar, and Jared Denton on drums.
Band members’ influences are Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Easton Corbin, Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, and Josh Thompson.
The band has one goal — to have good, clean American fun while playing good ol’ American country music.
“Chemistry is critical,” said Denton. “That’s one thing this bunch isn’t short on.”
Midnight Flyer will take the stage and begin entertaining at 7 p.m. on the West Lawn of Security Federal.
