Jackie Matheny leaned on his 20 years experience while Bobby Edwards promised change when the two Democratic rivals for sheriff squared off Tuesday at Warren County Administrative Offices.“My first order of business would be to take out the family owned business that is the sheriff’s department,” said Edwards, who claimed the county has paid Matheny and his family members working at the sheriff’s department $3 million in salaries since he has been in office.Matheny said when he took office he had a vision of a community where children and families could live without fear for their safety. He said Warren County is such a place.“As sheriff, I have given you all I’ve got,” said Matheny. “I’m still as passionate about the job today as I was the day I started.
