Two people were injured Friday night in a crash on Highway 55 Bypass. One driver, Chandra Martin, 57, was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The other driver, Crystal Bell, 31, was taken to River Park Hospital by the Warren County Emergency Ambulance Service.According to Highway Patrolman Tommy Cooper, the accident happened near the intersection of Highway 55 and Shangri La Lane around 9 p.m. Friday.“Ms. Martin was slowing down to turn onto Shangri La Lane when she was rear-ended by Ms. Bell,” Trooper Cooper said, noting both drivers were traveling east on the four-lane highway. The impact pushed Martin’s Toyota Forerunner into the median where it flipped. Meanwhile, Bell’s Mitsubishi Eclipse crossed over into the westbound lane and traveled several yards down the highway before crossing back into the eastbound lane and coming to rest.Cooper said there is suspicion Bell may have suffered from some sort of medical issue leading up to the crash.
