A man was struck Sunday night while pushing his bicycle along Sparta Highway. The victim, William Scott Forth, suffered an arm injury along with cuts and bruises after he was knocked down by the car driven by Maggie Mansell.According to Highway Patrol Trooper Bruce Pryor, the accident happened at 9:21 p.m. Sunday on Sparta Highway in the eastbound lanes.“He was pushing his bicycle east on Highway 70,” Trooper Pryor said. “He was in the lane of traffic and it was dark and he didn’t have a single light on the bicycle.”Pryor said a few motorists were able to dodge him, but Mansell, who was behind other traffic approaching behind Forth, did not see him in time.“The cycle got tangled up under her tire and Mr. Forth was knocked down,” Pryor said. While lawmen believe Forth had been drinking, there was not enough to bring charges against him for public intoxication. There were no citations or arrests made as a result of the accident.
