A man who cut his teen girlfriend with hunting knife while on a date will serve no jail time.The man, Jeffery D. Smartt, 20, entered a guilty plea before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to the reduced charge of domestic assault and was placed on probation for one year. He must also go to anger management classes.Smartt could have faced three to six years in prison on the original count of felony assault. Smartt’s sentence comes after he stabbed his 17-year-old girlfriend with a hunting knife during an argument which erupted between the two in his vehicle during a date.
