An elderly man was seriously injured New Year’s Eve when his truck crashed and overturned off Beersheba Highway.The man, Lester Scott, 80, remains under treatment following the Monday night crash that left him pinned inside the wreckage for some time as emergency crews worked to extricate him.The wreck happened on Safely Hollow Road off Highway 56 (Beersheba Highway) early Monday evening.According to highway patrol reports, the 80-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Beersheba Highway in his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup when his vehicle went off the right side of the road, entered a steep ditch and overturned.He was airlifted from the scene to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.The cause of the crash remains under investigation with the current suspicion being the wreck may have been triggered by a medical condition.
