A Spring Street man has been charged with felony domestic assault for allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a knife after accusing her of cheating on him.
The suspect, Daniel John Pendergraph, 32, is charged with aggravated domestic assault, a crime that carries three to six years in prison.
Police went to the North Spring Street apartment to answer a domestic call and were told Pendergraph had assaulted his girlfriend.
“She said that during an argument, he accused her of cheating on him and threw a plate of food on the floor and ordered her to pick it up,” said McMinnville police officer Chris Hutchins on the felony warrant against Pendergraph. “During the argument, he grabbed her from behind and choked her to the point of passing out.”
The woman told police that when she came to, she tried to get out of the apartment but her boyfriend wouldn’t let her go.
“He threw her into a fan and got on top of her with a knife,” officer Hutchins said, noting the victim had injuries to her back and neck due to the assault.
