A father will serve a month in jail after he seriously injured his 8-year-old son when he crashed a four-wheeler while driving drunk under the influence of alcohol and pills. The father, Martin Blaine Young, 52, entered pleas before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to charges of reckless endangerment and DUI while accompanied by a child. He was ordered to serve 32 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and must pay $350 plus costs, perform 40 hours public service work, forfeit his driver license for one year for DUI, and will be admitted to the adult recovery court.Lawmen say Young was driving a Honda Fourtrax ATV that collided with a trailer that was being towed by a truck on Randall Hitchcock Road.“He had red, blood-shot and watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol about his person,” said Highway Patrolman Tony Myers. “He admitted to consuming two beers and taking hydrocodone prior to the crash.”The blood test came back showing he had a blood/alcohol level that was .043, short of the .08 blood-alcohol content for legal intoxication.
