A Warren County man was given a 20-year prison sentence on Wednesday for possession of child pornography.

Travis Alan Young, 32, of John Oliver Road entered guilty pleas before Judge Bart Stanley on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Investigators say he had hundreds of images of children.

Because it is a sexual offense, Young must serve at least 85% of his sentence before his first chance of parole. That’s 17 years.

In contrast, those sent to prison as Range 1 offenders must serve 30% of their sentence before first chance of parole. In Young’s case, that amounts to a difference of 11 years because of the enhanced sentencing guidelines.

Upon his release, Young must register with the Sex Offender Registry for 10 years.

Young was arrested after cyber agents with the TBI discovered evidence he was in possession of child pornography.

According to the TBI, an investigation was launched by its Technical Services Unit after agents received information via a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip indicated an electronic service provider reported a user in the Warren County area was in possession of child sexual abuse material.

During the course of the investigation, agents identified that individual as Young and executed search warrants at his home in June 2020. TBI agents, joined by officers with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Young.
