Letters to Santa Claus, the tradition continues.

McMinnville Post Office is once again accepting Santa letters in its special Santa Claus mailbox placed in the front lobby. Children can send a letter and receive a response, as long as they are received in time by Jolly Ole St. Nick.

In addition, the Southern Standard is continuing our tradition of accepting letters to Santa. Those received will be printed in the newspaper.

For the last several years, local postal employees have offered this mail delivery service between children and Santa Claus. Only Santa letters that include names and return addresses will be answered.

According to McMinnville postmaster Brent Nunley, Santa letters will be accepted beginning Wednesday, Nov. 25.

“We will once again have a mailbox in the lobby so children can send their letters to Santa,” said Nunley. “The mailbox for Santa letters will be available Nov. 25.”

Letters are pulled nightly. Those with a name and return address will be answered by Santa’s elves.

“For a response, children need to get their letters in before Dec. 23 to give Santa time to answer them and give us time to deliver them by Christmas,” said Nunley. “After the 23rd, Santa is going to be too busy to answer letters.”

The newspaper is currently accepting Letters to Santa. They can be dropped off, emailed to lifestyles@southernstandard.com, or mailed to Letters to Santa, P.O. Box 150, McMinnville, TN 37111.

The deadline to assure publication is Dec. 15. While a deadline must be set, the Standard will make every attempt to publish all letters received. Please include first and last name.
