A two-vehicle collision involving a red Dodge Ram and a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee on Smithville Hwy. Thursday at approximately noon resulted in one driver being airlifted and another cited for due care.

McMinnville Police Officer Brianna Cooke worked the scene and said, "A red Dodge Ram driven by Jerry Goff was traveling northbound on Smithville Hwy. Mr. Goff stated that he believed he fell asleep behind the wheel and doesn't remember anything after that."

Officer Cooke went on to say that by observing the damage on the silver Jeep Grand  Cherokee, it is concluded it was also traveling north in front of the truck and when Goff fell asleep, he hit the back of the Jeep, causing heavy rear-end damage.

Daniel Dalton, the driver of the Jeep was airlifted and his passenger, Jacklyn Driver, was transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park.

Goff was issued a citation for due care.
