A woman has been charged with felony assault for allegedly pointing a gun at another woman and threatening to kill her.
The suspect, Selina Burgess, 33, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a gun with an altered serial number. She has been bound to the grand jury after waiving her right to a preliminary hearing last week.
Police say they were called to a residence in Mt. Leo where a person was allegedly wielding a gun. When they arrived, the victim, Tammy Anderson, told them there had been an argument and Burgess had gotten mad.
“She said (Burgess) went back into a bedroom and emerged with a black handgun after the argument,” said McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell. “She said Ms. Burgess pointed the gun at her and said ‘I’m going to kill you.’”
No shots were fired and Anderson and another woman left the residence. When police arrived, Burgess denied there was an argument and also denied having a gun at the house.
However, a search of the residence proved her wrong as a 32-caliber high point handgun was found. It was also discovered the serial numbers on the gun had been removed.
