Emily Grove is honored with the American Legion Vara Gray Scholarship presented by Pat Bryan.
What does scoring a perfect 36 on the ACT get you?If you’re WCHS senior Hayden Everett, it lands you $232,000.That’s the dollar amount of the scholarship Everett has earned to Sewanee, the largest academic scholarship by a Warren County student this year. The honor was revealed Tuesday night as WCHS held its annual Senior Awards and Scholarships Night in the school auditorium.“It’s a phenomenal feat,” said Director of Schools Bobby Cox when asked about Everett’s ACT score. The ACT is a 215-question test taken by college-bound students. Of those questions, 75 are for English, 60 for math, 40 for reading, and 40 for science.Cox said it’s his understanding a student can miss a few ACT questions and still get a perfect score of 36.Said Everett of the ACT, "It's not the hardest test I've ever taken, but it was pretty hard."Everett’s scholarship was part of $3.2 million announced to around 100 students.
