Warren County Commission meeting dates changed

The meeting date for the full Warren County Commission has changed for January and February.
Commissioners, during their regular scheduled monthly meeting Monday night, unanimously approved a measure to change the meeting night for those two months from the third Monday at 6:30 p.m. to the third Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The resolution passed 22-0. Absent from the meeting were Commissioners Gary Prater and Ron Lee.
A change was made in January and February to the third Tuesday so as not to conflict with the federal, state and local holidays of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day, respectively. Those days are paid holidays for government employees.
The recommendation to change the dates came from the county Policy and Personnel Committee which met in October.
According to committee chair Ken Martin, the existing situation requires county employees, county commissioners, department heads, etc., to work on a holiday.
Commissioner Wayne Copeland agreed.
“If the offices are closed, I don’t see them coming in here for two to three hours just to have the meeting that night,” Copeland said.
All other months remain unchanged.
