The 29th annual Van Buren County Mountain Homecoming kicks off Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. in Spencer.
“It is a day full of fun, food, vendors, and lots of music and surprises,” said event organizer Lesa Bouldin. “We are pleased to welcome 3DC, which is the band of Michael McMeel, former member of Three Dog Night, as our headliner at 7 p.m.”
The event also has in its lineup gospel music from The Agee Family and David and Jeanette Rogers. Local favorites Mostly Aces, Misfire, Flat Creek & Earl Swindell will also perform.
“We are excited to have back hometown boys Lucas McCoy and KC Cope, with Travis Humphrey and Billy Mac, with their popular band The Smokey Mount’n Bandits. We will wind up the day with a street dance with the music of the Dark Hollow Band.”

5:45 p.m. – Welcome by Kelly Lewis, Healthier Van Buren; invocation by John Hankins, Pledge of Allegiance by American Legion Post 207, National Anthem by Erin Sullivan, and Surprise from the Sky
6 p.m. – Misfire
7 p.m. – Three Dog Celebration
9 p.m. – The Smokey Mount’n Bandits
10:15 p.m. – Dark Hollow Band
“Everyone should come armed with a chair and a good appetite as there will be plenty of food vendors,” said Bouldin.
The festival originally started to celebrate the 150th birthday of Spencer.
