Two people were killed Friday night in a crash on New Nashville Highway at its intersection with Pigeon Hill Road.
The two fatally injured victims are Jason Bumbalough, 47, and his passenger Bryan Lance, 47, both of Warren County.
Mr. Lance reportedly died at the scene. Mr. Bumbalough was airlifted, but succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Highway Patrol, Bumbalough was driving a white Chevy Cavalier on Pigeon Hill Road and attempting to cross New Nashville Highway. He was traveling south in the direction of Old Nashville Highway.
In attempting to cross the intersection, Bumbalough pulled into the path of a gray Nissan Versa driven by Jesse Gunn, 23, of Murfreesboro, who was traveling toward McMinnville on the four-lane.
The impact knocked the Bumbalough vehicle into a ditch and caused heavy front-end damage to the Gunn vehicle, which came to rest in the middle of the highway. Gunn and his passenger, Jewell Frame, 23, of Manchester were not injured.
A third vehicle, a Chevy Equinox, got caught up in the crash shortly thereafter. Joseph Juarez, 20, of McMinnville, was traveling inbound and reportedly saw the car in the ditch but told state troopers he didn’t see the car still in the roadway and he hit it from behind. He was not injured.
Gunn was arrested and taken into custody for DUI and reckless endangerment, according to the Highway Patrol.
