A local woman driving to a doctor’s appointment found herself being transported to the hospital instead.

Bonnie Cochran, 67, of McMinnville was traveling outbound on New Nashville Highway when she veered off the road and came to a halt in a wooded area where her 1995 Toyota Camry struck a tree. The accident occurred between Crisp Springs Road and Pigeon Hill Road.

“She was on her way to Murfreesboro for a doctor’s appointment and evidently she lost consciousness,” Centertown Fire Chief Phillip Prater said at the scene. “She told us when she came to she was in some trees and her airbag had deployed.”

Cochran was transported by ambulance to Saint Thomas River Park Hospital.
